On the surface, Josh Groban and Jennifer Hudson seem to have little in common as musicians, but they’ll have the audience singing a different tune next summer in Columbus.
The powerhouse performers, who both have theatrical roots and ties to “American Idol,” will share a stage during Groban’s North American tour, set to stop at the Schottenstein Center on June 24.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 19. To support arts education nationwide, one dollar from every ticket sold will go to Groban’s Find Your Light Foundation.

Groban originally aimed to be an actor but gravitated to singing as his voice developed. Four semesters into his first year at Carnegie Mellon University, he was offered a recording contract and left to pursue a music career.
However, he has fulfilled his acting dreams, not only on TV and in movies, but on Broadway, including a Tony nomination for his turn in “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.”
The 44-year-old artist also has performed and served as a mentor on “American Idol.”
Hudson, also 44, drew the spotlight in 2004, when she placed seventh on season 3 of “Idol.” Besides singing, she hosts the nationally syndicated “Jennifer Hudson Show,” and has coached on “The Voice.”
Notably, Hudson is the youngest woman to become an EGOT by winning all four major American entertainment awards — the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
