SOUTH ZANESVILLE – “It’s nasty,” said South Zanesville Fire Chief Russell Taylor, who talked with the Times Recorder at 3:58 p.m., in the midst of severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings.
He and the South Zanesville Fire Department had been assisting the Harrison Township Fire Department with the high amount of fallen trees, damaged homes, and downed power lines and telephone poles, he said.
In fact, Old River Road was in bad enough shape that it had become completely impassable, Taylor said.
The fire departments were going to work on removing the 20 to 30 fallen trees they encountered so far, especially in areas on Old River Road and Ohio 60, Taylor noted.
According to AEP Ohio’s outage map, at least 1,635 customers were without power in the South Zanesville and Duncan Falls and Philo areas.
