Anderson High School’s football team has cracked the national rankings in the USA Today Super 25 unveiled July 21. The Raptors are the only Ohio team and Greater Cincinnati team in the top 25.
The Raptors are No. 25 in the national ranking after finishing 14-1 last season and Ohio Division II state runner-up. The USA Today staff noted that state champion Avon loses a lot to graduation, and the praised the Raptors’ star power including senior quarterback Owen Scalf, record-setting receiver Tysin Weaver and Notre Dame commit in the secondary, Ace Alston. Florida recruiting factory IMG Academy is No. 1 in the full list.
Anderson is No. 2 in the paper’s Midwest regional rankings to Mount Carmel (Illinois).
Perennial Kentucky power Louisville Trinity, which comes to Anderson in Week 1, is 12th in the region. There are seven other Ohio teams in the regional top 15, including St. Xavier, which is 11th. St. X was 11-3 and DI state runner-up in 2025.
Greater Catholic League-South rivals Elder and Moeller are listed as teams to watch.
