‘Superman’ review: ‘One of the character’s best moments on film’

Gunn’s “Superman” is the eighth big-screen adaptation. Does it have a chance to match (or surpass) the other Superman movies at the box office?

The reboot manages to match the intensity of recent comic book movies while maintaining Superman’s humanity and wrapping it all up in an entertaining package, writes Akron Beacon Journal reporter George M. Thomas, in his review.

“Gunn has taken a character that needed a refresh and given it one that provides optimism for what’s ahead for the DC Universe going forward,” Thomas writes.

Who is portraying Superman/Clark Kent in the 2025 version of ‘Superman’?

The new “Superman” movie stars David Corenswet, the fourth and latest actor to portray the Man of Steel. He’s a Philadelphia native and is known for projects such as “Pearl,” “We Own This City” and “The Politician.”

Who plays Lois Lane and Lex Luthor in the new Superman movie?

The film also stars Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “About a Boy”) as Lex Luthor.

Gunn’s “Superman” also features notable names such as Wendell Pierce (“The Wire”) as Perry White and Nathan Fillion (“The Rookie” TV series, “Serenity”) as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern.
