Northeast Ohio residents have access to some of the best medical care in the country, according to recently released hospital rankings from U.S. News & World Report for 2025-2026.
U.S. News has created a report of the best hospitals nationwide for more than 35 years in an effort to help patients find the best local care and consult with the best doctors. A variety of rankings are a part of the report, including best hospitals for complex care, best hospitals for frequently treated procedures and conditions, best regional hospitals and best hospitals for maternity care.
Eligible hospitals are evaluated based on four areas, including patient outcomes and experiences, other care-related indicators (including intensity of nurse staffing) and the expert opinion of surveyed physicians.
While still one of the top cardiology hospitals in the United States, Cleveland Clinic no longer holds the top spot, falling to No. 3 after two New York hospitals (NYU Langone Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital). Previously, Cleveland Clinic had been named the top cardiology hospital in the country for 30 years in a row.
Cleveland Clinic still made the Honor Roll, which lists the Top 20 hospitals overall in the country out of 4,500 medical centers, and is still nationally ranked in 13 adult specialties and is rated high performing in 21 of the 22 conditions that U.S. News evaluates.
