In preparation for the first heat wave of the summer, the trash collection service schedule has been changed for Rumpke customers.
An extreme heat watch will be in effect from Sunday, June 22, afternoon through Tuesday, June 24, evening, with heat indices over 100 degrees.
Rumpke Corporate Communications Manager Molly Yeager said customers can expect earlier collection times from Sunday, June 22 to Sunday, June 29.
Recycling and trash will be collected an hour early in most areas, Yeager said, but it could vary.
“It is extremely important next week, that they place it out the night before,” she said. Although Yeager emphasized the importance of preparing for trash collection early next week, she said it is important Rumpke customers place collection carts out the night before, regardless of weather. “This ensures that regardless of weather, it is out and our drivers can get it.”
In addition to changing their pickup schedule, Yeager said Rumpke will be providing drivers with additional drinks, ice for those drinks, and supervisor check-ins to ensure drivers are taking all the necessary steps to stay safe in extreme weather conditions.
