More than a dozen area students have received Myron Fishel scholarships, according to a community announcement.
The 2026 recipients are:
● Destini Abrams of Lore City, a 2026 Buckeye Trail High School graduate, who plans to attend Belmont College
● Madison Boyer of Byesville, a 2022 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who attends Cedarville University
● Garrett Carpenter of Cambridge, a 2026 Cambridge High School graduate, who plans to attend Muskingum University
● Kaylee Garcia of Cambridge, a 2026 Cambridge High School graduate, who plans to attend Washington State College of Ohio
● Jenna Grudier of Byesville, a 2026 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who plans to attend The Ohio State University
● Andrew Hardy of Senecaville, a 2024 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who attends Muskingum University
● Grace Kackley of Byesville, a 2026 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who plans to attend The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute
● Karly Launder of Pleasant City, a 2024 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who attends Marietta College
● Max Morrow of Cambridge, a 2026 John Glenn High School graduate, who plans to attend Ohio University
● Madison Peters of Cambridge, a 2025 Cambridge High School graduate, who attends Ohio University
● Karrah Singleton of Senecaville, a 2026 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who plans to attend Malone University
● Dawson Spratt of Lore City, a 2026 Cambridge High School graduate, who plans to attend The Ohio State University
● Caleb Stanberry of Cambridge, a 2024 Cambridge High School graduate, who attends Kent State University
● Leslie Stevens of Cambridge, a 2026 Meadowbrook High School graduate, who plans to attend Muskingum University
● Sierra Taylor of Salesville, a 2026 Buckeye Trail High School graduate, who plans to attend Ohio Northern University
● Teagan Walrath of Cambridge, a 2026 John Glenn High School graduate, who plans to attend Miami University
Dr. Waite Phillip Fishel, a former chemistry professor at Vanderbilt University, created the Myron Fishel Scholarship Fund in 1974 to honor the memory of his only son, Myron, who was killed in action during World War II. The Myron Fishel Scholarship Fund, which joined the Guernsey County Foundation’s family of funds at Foundation for Appalachian Ohio in 2016, provides support to Guernsey County students pursuing postsecondary studies at accredited institutions in Ohio.
