Guernsey County judge sentences four people to decades in prison in three separate cases

CAMBRIDGE – Four individuals were recently sentenced on drug charges from cases handled by investigators with the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office.

One of these cases involved Sherman Jones, 56, of Cambridge, who received a 14 to 18 year sentence by Judge Daniel Padden of Guernsey County Common Pleas on June 10, whose sentence covered two difference cases.

Law enforcement believed Jones was using his car and his home to traffic drugs, according to an announcement from the sheriff’s office. His charges, including a felony charge of trafficking in drugs, came after the execution of a search warrant on Aug. 20, 2024, at his home on 10 Street. Investigators seized methamphetamine, Jones’ vehicles, trailer and numerous suspected stolen items. He would have been charged a second-degree felony for trafficking but it was bumped up to a first degree as the residence was within 1,000 feet of a school and drug treatment center, according to the announcement.

Rebekka Reedy, 31 of Zanesville, was sentenced serve nine to 12 years behind bars on June 11, after a stop for a traffic violation led to felony charges. Reedy, who was prohibited from owning or possession a firearm, admitted to officers he had a firearm in the vehicle during the traffic stop. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a loaded semi-automatic .380 pistol, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia related to the trafficking of narcotics. He was convicted of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a second-degree felony; trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, a fourth-degree felony; and having a weapon under disability, a third-degree felony.

A joint investigation with the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force led to charges against Zanesville residents, David Doyle, 39, and Brianna Rollins, 37. Investigators believed the two were trafficking narcotics from a Cambridge hotel. Officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle the pair were in as it was leaving the hotel. Officers found more than $5,000 in cash and obtained a search warrant for the hotel room on Feb. 3, 2025. There they discovered more than 500 grams of methamphetamine as well as items related to narcotics trafficking.

Doyle plead guilty to aggravated trafficking in drugs, a first-degree felony, on May 30. He will spend the next nine to 11 years in prison.

Rollins pleaded guilty to the same charge on June 5. She received a sentence of nine to 13 years.
