Former Browns' star using end of Cleveland era as motivation

Former Cleveland Browns guard Wyatt Teller was in front of the camera for the first time since joining the Houston Texans with a chance to revitalize his career. To do that, he is using the end of his tenure as motivation to get the best out of what will likely be his final stop.

There are two versions of Teller that Browns fans can choose to remember him by. The first one is the 2020 version, who was going up the sidelines in the Playoff game in Pittsburgh, screaming “We’re just the same old Browns?! Just the same old Browns?!” as Nick Chubb and the Cleveland offense scorched the Steelers.

Or the other version is the one that was on the field last year, who looked like a player over the hill. He played a little bit slower, a little bit weaker, and just one step behind at every point.

As Cleveland has reworked its roster to get much younger, it was obviously time for a great six-year relationship to go its separate ways. While Teller still respects and appreciates his time in Cleveland, there is clearly a bad taste in his mouth with the way it ended.

On Saturday, a clip was released of him saying, “I’m not going to throw away six years that they treated me unbelievable for six months of indifference. I still have no ill will for anybody there. It felt like they kind of blamed it on the offensive line… There (were) so many issues, you can’t point at one thing.”

Honestly, that is probably a fair statement. Everything about Cleveland’s offense was bad last year. The play calling was bad, the offensive line play was bad, the running backs were actually okay, the wide receivers were bad, and the quarterback play was bad. It is very hard to point at one thing, and I truly don’t believe that was the sentiment around the conversation.

Maybe because he was so dialed in on the offensive line play that it felt that way, but I think that the blame fairly went all the way around. No one on offense was safe from their share of the blame, including the poor offensive line.

As the two parties split, hopefully, it is what is best for both. Hopefully, Cleveland can turn a new page in their young era, and hopefully Teller can turn the clock back for a year or two.

No matter what happens, what everyone can agree on is that the 2025 Cleveland Browns were simply not good enough, and almost everyone was to blame.
