Former Rutgers guard and San Antonio Spurs first-round draft pick (No. 2 overall) in the 2025 NBA draft Dylan Harper gets to join the family business.
Harper is the son of former Cleveland Cavs guard and Miami RedHawks standout Ron Harper. A Dayton native, Ron Harper spent his first four seasons in the NBA with the Cavs before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. He would go on to play for the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers in his 14-year career.
He averaged 13.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists in his career.
Dylan Harper played in 29 games, starting 28, and averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4 assists during his lone season with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. He will join a Spurs team that includes two recent NBA Rookie of the Year winners – Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle – along with veteran Chris Paul. The Spurs also made a splash when they traded for De’Aaron Fox prior to the trade deadline last season.
Dylan Harper’s brother, Ron Harper Jr., plays for the Detroit Pistons.
