An adult who was outside exchanging insurance information with another driver following a vehicle crash just minutes before was killed after being struck by a third vehicle in Columbus’ Easton area, according to Columbus police.
The police Accident Investigation Unit said that around 12:09 p.m. Oct. 22, the adult victim was involved in a separate crash at Stelzer Road and Montclair Drive in front of Abbott Laboratories in Columbus’ Easton area. While standing in between the two vehicles, a third vehicle crashed into one of the stopped vehicles from behind, shoving that vehicle into the adult, police said.
The victim was transported to Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville in critical condition, where they were pronounced dead at 1:16 p.m., according to a Columbus police dispatcher.
The identity of the victim will be released once next of kin is notified.
Police said the driver who struck the victim stayed at the scene.
The Columbus police Accident Investigation Unit said an investigation into the crash is ongoing. Anyone with information on the crash can contact the AIU at 614-645-4767.
