Cincinnati Bengals and Bearcats radio play-by-play announcer Dan Hoard shared via Twitter/X that he thinks former Reds great Joey Votto “will be one of the best baseball analysts ever.”
Front Office Sports’ Michael McCarthy reported that Votto is finalizing a deal with NBC Sports to be part of its MLB coverage for the upcoming season.
“Smart, funny, and (best of all) 100 percent unique,” Hoard tweeted of Votto. “When Tim McCarver did local TV with the Mets, he changed the way I thought about the game. Joey will have the same impact if he enjoys broadcasting and sticks with it.”
In 2022, Hoard tweeted that he believed former Moeller High School standout and National Baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. – inducted in 2014 into the Reds Hall of Fame – would be great for a “Manningcast”-type MLB broadcast.
