Plans for the first Chik-fil-A in the City of Delaware are moving forward: City council unanimously approved the development plan for the restaurant at its July 27 meeting.
The new restaurant is part of a bigger development planned on the eastern edge of Delaware near Sunbury Road (State Route 36) and Sky View Lane.
Plans for the restaurant include just over 5,000 feet of interior space, 68 parking spots and 92 seats inside and 20 outside, according to city documents.
City staff said that the plan includes extra space to account for anticipated high drive-through demand.
There are two access points to the restaurant from a private drive – there is no direct access from Sunbury Road.
City council previously approved the rezoning for Trailhead Crossing West, which includes the new Chick-fil-A, in February.
There are a few other Chik-fil-A locations in Delaware County, but this would be the first within the city limits.
