CHILLICOTHE— To some, the Chillicothe VA may look like just a place to work or just a place where veterans receive care, but Medical Center Director Ken Mortimer said the goal is to make the campus feel like home.
With the opening of PatriotBrew, they are one step closer to completing this goal.
“We’re opening a new gathering space for veterans and our staff,” said Mortimer. “It’s really special.”
The cafe sells coffee, warm food, snacks, and more to those working on or receiving care on campus. This new cafe means that the canteen on campus will close, but this new area provides a better environment for people to enjoy. Mortimer says the cafe offers a lighter and more welcoming place for people to gather, compared to the canteen, which felt like a cafeteria.
Minutes after opening, the cafe had a line of customers excited to try the new offerings. Mortimer said he is glad to see it being used and happy to take one more step forward towards making the Chillicothe VA the best it can be.
PatriotBrew is located in building 211 of the Chillicothe VA Campus and will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
