The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden shared the name of its new baby fennec fox. Spoiler alert: It’s adorable.
The kit, whose birth the zoo announced in mid-July, is named Martini, the zoo said in an Instagram post on Thursday, Aug. 6.
Martini’s cocktail-inspired name fits perfectly with her parents’. Her mom’s name is Olive and her dad’s name is Cosmo.
The zoo also shared that Martini recently had a veterinary check-up and is “healthy and doing great.”
She is spending most of her time tucked away in a nest box, the Instagram post reads, but with any luck, visitors might get to see Olive carrying Martini “from one cozy spot to another.”
Fennec foxes are the world’s smallest foxes. They are native to northern Africa and western Asia and live in the desert.
Fennec foxes are known for their ears, which reach up to six inches long. Their ears are the largest in the canid family, a group of dog-like mammals, relative to body size.
Zoo visitors can see fennec foxes in the Night Hunters habitat.
