Cavs, Raptors injury report. Immanuel Quickley's Game 3 status updated

The injury situations the Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors face continue to be worth monitoring, even with the Cavs leading their best-of-seven playoff series 2-0.

Raptors starting point guard Immanuel Quickley and Cavs backup center Thomas Bryant have yet to appear in the first-round series because of injuries. Quickley undoubtedly has a more important role with the Raptors than Bryant does with the Cavs. Will Quickley return to action and give the Raptors a much-needed boost?

Here are the injury reports for the fourth-seeded Cavs and fifth-seeded Raptors heading into Game 3:

Raptors vs. Cavs Game 3 injury report. Raptors list Immanuel Quickley, Ja’Kobe Walter as questionable for Game 3

On April 22, the Raptors listed guards Immanuel Quickley (right hamstring strain) and Ja’Kobe Walter (illness) as questionable to play in Game 3.

The Raptors initially listed Quickley as questionable to play before Game 1 and Game 2, only to rule him out shortly before each tipoff. Walter played 28 minutes off the bench in both Game 1 and Game 2.

Backup point guard Jamal Shead started both games in place of Quickley.

Why is Immanuel Quickley out?

Quickley exited Toronto’s regular-season finale April 12 against the Brooklyn Nets with right hamstring tightness. The next day, the Raptors announced Quickley had undergone medical imaging, leading him to be diagnosed with “a mild hamstring strain.” At the time, the Raptors described Quickley’s status as day to day.

Beginning in late March, Quickley missed eight games due to right foot plantar fasciitis and another game on April 10 to manage the injury.

Cavs vs. Raptors Game 3 injury report. Cleveland Cavaliers upgrade Thomas Bryant to probable. Why isn’t Thomas Bryant playing?

On April 22, the Cavs listed backup center Thomas Bryant (left calf strain) as questionable to play in Game 3. Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson said Bryant was a full participant in practice earlier in the day. Then on the afternoon of April 23, the Cavs upgraded Bryant’s status for Game 3 to probable.

Bryant missed the first two games of the series. Bryant also sat out the final four games of the regular season with the same injury.

The Cavs did not include any other players on their injury report on the eve of Game 3.

Cavs starting center Jarrett Allen has been with dealing with right knee tendonitis this season, and Allen revealed on April 16 he would “be lying if I said I would expect it to be 100%” healthy in the playoffs.

So far, Allen’s body has held up against the Raptors.
