A new Carnation Festival activity for children will welcome young authors to Alliance at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at Maple Beach Park.
The free Meet the Authors event will introduce attendees to Kamille and Kamryn Smith, who have written several books in their childhood years.
The youngsters will share the inspiration behind their most recent books during a 45-minute appearance.
Kamille Smith wrote “Switching Up My Hair,” which shares a powerful message of self-love that encourages girls to embrace confidence in their hair – no matter how it is styled.
Kamryn Smith will speak about her book, “Be Free: Just Do It Your Way,” which empowers young readers to be bold, authentic and fearless while being themselves.
The young women live in the Akron area with their parents. Their father, Kenny Smith, is an author, too, and wrote “We Love Our Daddy,” which highlights the importance of a father being present in the lives of his family.
The event is organized by the Early Childhood Education Alliance, which is based in the Carnation City. For more information on the organization, check out earlychildhoodeducationalliance.org
