CANTON TWP. – The sixth Canton Township Community Day will feature food, fireworks, inflatables, live entertainment and a look at the township’s new playground.
The free-admission event will be held on June 21 at Faircrest Park at 1001 Faircrest St. SW.
No parking will be available inside the park. Free parking will be available at Faircrest Elementary, with LED Transportation providing a complimentary handicap-accessible shuttle to the park. Accessible parking also will be available on Springfield Avenue SW.
Parking will be prohibited from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on June 21 along Springfield Avenue SW, from Faircrest Street SW to Davis Street SW; Monica Avenue SW, from Faircrest to Davis; Davis Street SW, from Springvale Avenue SW to Monica; and 39th Street SW, from Highview Avenue SW to the dead end.
Starting at 4 p.m., stage music will begin and food will be available from 11 vendors, including sandwiches, barbecue, hot dogs, French fries, pizza, desserts, shaved ice, ice cream, coffee and other refreshments.
Children can jump on the inflatables in the play zone and try out Faircrest Park’s recently installed playground equipment. The playground, which includes multiple slides, climbing structures and spinners, was installed using a $250,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
At 7 p.m., Karri Fedor & Kerosene will take the amphitheater stage.
Fireworks will begin at dusk to conclude the event, which was supported by township trustees and more than $31,000 in donations from community organizations, businesses and individuals.
