Candidates file petitions for village councils, school boards and township trustees

ZANESVILLE – Nonpartisan candidates for Muskingum County village councils, school boards and township positions have filed their petitions with the Muskingum County Board of Elections for the Nov. 4 general election. The deadline was Aug. 6, however the board must certify the petitions before they appear on the ballot. That will take place on Aug. 18.

Also filed were petitions for local options, an issue and 12 levies, seven of which are for new taxes.

Levies

Muskingum County − property tax renewal for 0.2 mills and five years for parks, trail, and recreational purposes.

Muskingum County − property tax renewal for 2 mills and 10 years for the support of Muskingum County Children Services and Avondale Youth Center and the care, support, protection and placement of physically abused, sexually abused, neglected and abandoned children.

Philo − property tax renewal for 2.3 mills and five years for current operating expenses.

Adams Township − property tax for an additional 1 mill for five years to provide fire protection, ambulance or medical services, and underwater rescue and recovery equipment.

Blue Rock − property tax renewal for 1 mill and five years to provide fire protection and ambulance or emergency medical services.

Jackson Township − additional property tax for 0.45 mills and five years to maintain and operate cemeteries.

Monroe Township − additional property tax for 0.25 mills and five years for the general construction, reconstruction, resurfacing and repair of streets, roads, and bridges.

Monroe Township − additional property tax for 0.25 mills and five years to maintain and operate cemeteries.

Monroe Township − additional property tax for 1 mill and five years to provide fire protection and ambulance or emergency medical services.

Newton Township − property tax renewal for 3 mills and a continuing period of time to provide fire protection, ambulance or emergency medical services, and underwater rescue and recovery equipment.

Tri-Valley Join Fire District −additional property tax for 3 mills and a continuing period of time to provide fire protection, ambulance or emergency medical services, and underwater rescue and recovery equipment.

Springfield Township Unincorporated − additional property tax for 2 mills and five years for the general construction, reconstruction, resurfacing and repair of streets, roads, and bridges.
