A Canal Winchester man will spend at least a dozen years in prison in connection with a 2024 traffic crash in which two people were killed and he and woman were seriously injured.
Anthony Conley pleaded guilty on April 6 to two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of aggravated vehicular assault in connection with an April 1, 2024, crash that killed the other driver, Wayne Smith, 63, and his 8-year-old passenger, Iyoki Robinson.
On June 4, Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Jeff Brown sentenced Conley to 12-16 years in prison.

2 dead, 2 seriously injured in traffic crash in Madison Township near Canal Winchester
Two people are dead — including a juvenile — one is in critical condition, and another suffered injuries but remains in stable condition following a two-vehicle crash Monday evening, April 1, 2024, on Gender Road in Madison Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Wayne Smith, 63, and the then-unnamed juvenile died at the scene of the crash, which happened shortly before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Gender Road southbound and West Waterloo Street in front of Winchester Plaza, just south of U.S. 33.
Anthony Conley, 38, of Canal Winchester, was westbound on West Waterloo Street in a 2016 Tesla Model S when he failed to stop at a stop sign coming out of the shopping plaza, striking a southbound 2015 Buick Enclave on Gender Road.
Smith was driving the Enclave with two passengers, Sherri Smith, 60, and the unnamed juvenile, all of whom were from Columbus, according to the press release.
Another passenger in Smith’s vehicle, Sherri Smith, was critically injured and taken to Mount Carmel East Hospital. Conley was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in stable condition, according to the state patrol press release.
Speed appeared to be a factor in the crash, according to the OSHP.
