Caden Cramer expands role for Bellevue football

Bellevue’s Caden Cramer can slice, chop, probe, dice and cut on a football field.

“He’s like a Swiss Army knife,” Bellevue quarterback Ike Brown said. “He’s big, he’s strong, he’s fast. He has good hands.”

Cramer started at tight end the whole season and middle linebacker the final four games as a sophomore last season. He often makes plays in the pocket, but he’s far from small at 5-foot-11, 200 pounds.

“He’s one of our most physical and most dedicated players,” first-year Bellevue coach Alex Shepherd said. “He doesn’t miss a thing. We run behind him and we try to throw him the ball.”

Cramer caught a 5-yard scoring pass from Brown in a 33-23 victory Friday over Clyde. He had four catches for 38 yards overall.

“It was just a great play (call),” Cramer said. “I just made the play. I didn’t have to do anything special.”

Cramer had three catches for 54 yards last season. He added 69 tackles on defense.

“It was a learning experience,” he said. “I learned a lot, reading stuff, getting downhill. I’m bigger. I can lay a little more on them.”
