The Cleveland Browns and former fourth-round pick out of Ohio State, Dawand Jones, have agreed to a contract restructure for the final year of his rookie deal. His 2026 deal is now worth $1.5 million with $1.145 million guaranteed, which is lower than the $3.674 million he was due.
This deal gives Jones more guranteed money while also freeing up cap space for Cleveland, the Browns have done this multiple times over the last few years. Jones has had season-ending injuries in all three years of his career, so agreeing to a smaller number overall but with more guarantees makes a lot of sense for both parties.
The Browns have rebuilt their offensive line using resources in free agents and the draft to try to improve a unit that was bad last year. Jones is likely the swing tackle and still has the ability to play at a high level, but it’s hard to expect much from him because he has struggled even when he has been healthy.
