Browns NFL Draft: Grading the second round pick of WR Denzel Boston

The overhaul of the offense and the passing game continues for the Cleveland Browns as they select Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston in the second round with the 39th overall selection. The wide receiver room was awful for the Browns last year, and Andrew Berry clearly knew they had to address it in this year’s class, going back-to-back with picks 24 and 39.

Denzel Boston brings a rare combination of size and speed. At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, his frame immediately stands out on film, yet he still surprises defenders with his first-step burst and top-end speed. That blend makes him a consistent mismatch for opposing defenses.

He tracks the ball well in the air and shows strong body control, allowing him to adjust and finish difficult catches. As a route runner, he’s above average, changing direction more sharply than expected for his size and creating separation when defenders lose him in coverage. His physicality shows up both as a run blocker and in contested-catch situations, where his strength and frame give him a clear advantage.

Grade: B+
