After Andrew Berry traded Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams over the summer, many believed the Cleveland Browns would begin a fire sale and tear everything down to the studs, trading away all their veteran players for future draft assets. But that wasn’t the case when Berry and the Browns signed both corner Denzel Ward and safety Grant Delpit on back-to-back days as training camp kicked off.
When Berry talked to the media on Thursday, he said that they didn’t necessarily go into the offseason with the plan to trade a player like Garrett, but that an opportunity arose to get good value and they took it. He also talked about being a young team not necessarily meaning they will be a bad team.
Berry also expressed his excitement about having both Ward and Delpit signed to contract extensions and being on the roster for multiple seasons.
“Really excited to have those guys. They’re what we want in the organization. They embody being Cleveland Browns. They’re excellent players still playing at a high level.”
