Brewers send down Cincinnati native to make room for starting pitcher

The Milwaukee Brewers announced that they optioned Highlands High School graduate Drew Rom to Triple-A Nashville to make room for starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff.

Woodruff was reinstated from the 15-day injured list and started for Milwaukee in its series opener against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Woodruff was perfect through five innings, and had double-digit strikeouts.

Woodruff entered the game 2-1 with a 3.60 ERA in six starts this season. He went on the injured list May 1 with right shoulder inflammation.

Rom posted a 3.38 ERA with 10 strikeouts in four relief appearances for Milwaukee. He was a fourth-round pick of the Baltimore Orioles in the 2018 draft.
