Bengals' quiet internal promotions might explain major offseason shift

The Cincinnati Bengals snuck some little promotion announcements into a recent media session.

There, as seen at the team’s official website and everywhere else, the Bengals revealed that Elizabeth Blackburn and Caroline Blackburn have been promoted to vice president roles.

Elizabeth was previously the club’s director of strategy and engagement, a role described as such as recently as last month, at least in media around the Ring of Honor changes.

On paper, this means they both join Troy Blackburn, Paul Brown and others within the team as vice presidents under executive vice president Katie Blackburn and team president Mike Brown.

No official word on who is doing what and why, but the timing of this aligns with the most all-in, modern-feeling team Bengals fans have ever seen. That includes modern contract structures, the Dexter Lawrence trade, the Joe Burrow restructure and quite a bit more.

Coincidence? Probably not.
