Throughout the season, we like to follow the ESPN Allstate Playoff Predictor as a gauge of which teams have the best chance of making the College Football Playoff. It’s a little hard to follow early on because there just aren’t enough data points with a lack of games to get a good feel for things, but this year, the folks at ESPN and Allstate have dropped the preseason CFP odds of the top 12 teams to make it into the bracket for the 2026 season.
As you would expect, Ohio State is one of the 12 teams with the best odds to get into the postseason tournament, but maybe you didn’t anticipate where the Buckeyes landed. It continues a trend of the analytics and national media types falling more in love with all things scarlet and gray, because OSU had the best odds at 17% to get in. Those aren’t high odds, but at this point in the season with so many unknown variables at play, it is tops.
Behind Ohio State, and rounding out the top ten are some usual suspects.
Preseason Allstate Predictor CFP odds for 2026
I think I would boost some of these up, but I get that it’s pretty hard to have a solid case for anyone without the start of real, live games. We’ll continue to follow the Allstate Playoff Predictor when it makes its appearance throughout the season to see where Ohio State is.
