A woman who was seriously injured when she was struck by a car in Penfield Saturday night was helping another driver who had struck a deer, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Brendan Hurley said that a 23-year-old man was driving west on Plank Road when he struck the woman, 29, as she was helping another driver around 9:45 p.m. Saturday. Deputies initially described the injured woman as a pedestrian walking alongside the road.
She was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and was listed in stable condition on Monday, deputies said. The crash occurred on Plank Road, just west of Jackson Road, in Penfield.
Deputies conducted standardized field sobriety tests on the striking driver, and ruled out the involvement of alcohol and drugs, Hurley said.
The woman’s name was not released. No charges were filed in connection with the crash as of Monday, deputies said.
