Woman critically injured in shooting inside Rochester home

A woman in her 20s was seriously injured when shot inside a house in northwest Rochester, according to police.

Emergency responders were called to a residence on Finch Street around 6:15 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, said Capt. Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department. Officers located a woman who was shot at least once in the upper body.

The woman – who was not identified by police – was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment, Bello said. She was listed in critical but stable condition.

Bello said a preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was shot inside a house. The circumstances of the shooting are under investigation.  Finch Street is a residential road that intersects with Lexington and Driving Park avenues and is within the city’s Edgerton neighborhood.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911.
