Wegmans closes Burger Bar at Pittsford store, plans new Market Café

The Burger Bar by Wegmans has closed adjacent to the Pittsford Wegmans at 3195 Monroe Ave.

The space will be redesigned and transitioned into a Market Café concept, a Wegmans spokesperson said. It is expected to open in the spring,

Guests will be able to order from their table by scanning a QR code with their phones. Once scanned, customers will access the Wegmans Meals 2Go platform that includes subs, pizza, sushi, bowls and an updated Burger Bar menu. Orders will be delivered tableside. Customers will also be able to order at a register.

The company has closed several other Burger Bar locations including in Virginia Beach and Alexandria, Virginia; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Wilmington, Delaware and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. According to the Wegmans website, the remaining New York State locations for The Burger Bar are in Canandaigua; Dewitt, near Syracuse; and Harrison, in Westchester County.

The space adjacent to the Pittsford store was originally home to the upscale Tastings restaurant, which debuted in 2002 and closed in 2009. That was replaced by the Next Door Bar and Grill across the street; it subsequently was rebranded Next Door by Wegmans.

In 2010, Wegmans opened The Food Bar, a fast-casual restaurant in the Pittsford Wegmans space. It served family-friendly fare as well as pricier entrées. In 2014 it was rebranded as The Burger Bar, which served burgers, sandwiches, salads, milkshakes, beer and wine.
