Vote for the Varsity 845 girls softball players of the week

The Varsity 845 girls softball players of the week polls are online for May 11-17. Information was utilized on reports gathered by Varsity 845 and nominations. Coaches are encouraged to provide their game reports in order for athletes to be chosen; they may also nominate one player from their team by Sunday afternoon.

One athlete per school is allowed per week. A poll winner will be ineligible for the following week.

Varsity 845 girls softball player of the week (May 11-17, large)

Isabella Brelesky, Monroe-Woodbury

She struck out 17 and added a solo homer as the Crusaders fell to Middletown 6-4 on May 11. She had eight RBI in an 11-3 win over Wallkill on May 12. On May 13, she had two singles and RBI in an 8-7 win over Minisink Valley. She fanned six in a two-hit, 5-0 win over Kingston on May 16.

Caroline Brennan, Washingtonville

She had two hits as the Wizards fell to Minisink Valley 13-2 on May 11. She had a single in a 15-6 loss to Cornwall on May 15.

Abby Crantz, Kingston

She had two singles, two doubles and three RBI as the Tigers blanked Kingston 18-0 on May 13. On May 14, she had a double and single in a 12-4 win over Red Hook.

Payton Croce, Pine Bush

She had two singles, a three-run homer and five RBI as the Bushmen beat Middletown 9-0 in May 12.

Addison Freiberger, Goshen

She won a perfect game, fanning nine, and adding a two-run homer as the Gladiators beat Warwick 12-0 on May 11. She also got the 13-1 win over Washingtonville on May 12. On May 16, she fanned 10 in a 16-0 win over Port Jervis, adding a double, two singles and RBI.

Bethannie French, Middletown

She fanned eight for the win as the Bears downed Monroe-Woodbury 6-4 on May 11.

Alana Hayes, Cornwall

She had a single, triple, homer and six RBI as the Dragons beat Liberty 24-1 on May 16.

Emma Hunt, Wallkill

She had a single, two RBI and fanned nine in the Panthers’ 11-3 loss to Monroe-Woodbury on May 12.

Camryn Leclair, Newburgh

She had two singles, a game-tying two-run homer and three RBI as the Goldbacks beat Kingston 9-7 on May 11.

Madison Ringus, Minisink Valley

She had three hits and five RBI as the Warriors beat Washingtonville 13-2 on May 11.

Emily Romig, Warwick

She had four singles and three RBI as the Wildcats beat Cornwall 15-1 on May 12. She had a double, single and RBI in a 12-0 win over Monticello on May 15.

Emily Sharpe, Valley Central

She won a one-hitter as the Vikings beat Cornwall 6-0 on May 11. The next day she had three singles and two RBI in a 5-2 loss to Minisink. She had a homer in a 10-6 win over Newburgh on May 15.

Madison Braren, New Paltz

She had two hits and three RBI in the Huguenots’ 15-1 win over Lourdes on May 12.

Mary Chellis, Sullivan West

She had a triple, homer and four RBI as the Bulldogs beat Eldred 13-1 on May 16. Earlier in the day, she got the win, fanning eight, in an 11-4 decision over Monticello.

Julia Contuas, S.S. Seward

She had two singles and two RBI as the Spartans fell to Tri-Valley 14-5 on May 11.

Bella DeSpirito, James I. O’Neill

She drove in seven runs on three singles and a double in a 28-16 win over Liberty on May 15.

Giada Donato, Eldred

She won a one-hitter, fanning 12, as the Yellowjackets beat Seward 14-0 on May 15. She fanned 11 in a 10-5 win over Burke on May 16.

Gianna Jones, Highland

She had a single, double, homer and three RBI as the Huskies fell to Marlboro 9-6 on May 12.

Izzy Maida, Port Jervis

She tossed a five-inning perfect game, fanning 11, as the Raiders downed Liberty 20-0 on May 11.

Sam Maleck, Marlboro

She had a double, two singles, two RBI and fanned 13 for the win as the Dukes beat Highland 9-6 on May 12. She fanned seven in the MHAL title game, bowing to Pine Plains 2-1, and struck out seven in a two-hit semifinal 5-2 win over Saugerties.

Harper Melay, Chester

She had a triple, three singles and got the win as the Hambletonians downed Beacon 20-8 on May 13. She fanned five in a 10-0 loss to Port on May 15.

Caitlyn Monell, Tri-Valley

She had two doubles, a single and four RBI as the Bears downed Seward 14-5 on May 11. The next day she was the winning pitcher as the Bears beat Rockland 12-4.

Morgan Owen, Burke Catholic

She had a single, triple and four RBI as the Eagles downed Eldred 13-0 on May 11. She added a double in a 14-1 win over Rockland on May 13. She had two hits and two RBI in an 11-10 win over Monticello and one hit in a 10-5 loss to Eldred on May 16.

Ella Schoonmaker, Rondout Valley

She had four hits and two RBI as the Ganders downed Highland 10-2 on May 11. The next day she was the winning pitcher, fanning eight, in a 4-2 win over Dover.

Celina Vail, Saugerties

She had a double and two RBI as the Sawyers downed New Paltz 4-1on May 11.

Giuliana Wagner, Liberty

She had three singles, a double and five RBI as the Redhawks lost to O’Neill 28-16.

Meghan Winter, Chapel Field

She had a double and fanned 15 as the Lions beat Rockland 8-0 on May 11.
