Vote for Section V's Girls Athlete of the Week for April 20-26 presented by Faber Builders

It’s time to take a look at the standout performers from Section V.

Your vote will determine who will be the Faber Builders Girls Sports Athlete of the Week for April 20-26. The players’ credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 8 p.m. Wednesday. The winner will be announced on our Instagram page Thursday morning.

The nominees are chosen by our sports reporters. If you would like to call attention to an athlete’s performance to be considered for the nomination, please email sports@democratandchronicle.com by 7 p.m. each Sunday. All athletes who play on Section V girls teams are eligible to be nominated.

The poll can be found at the bottom of the article. Now, let’s meet the candidates.

McKenna Anderson

Victor lacrosse player tallied five goals as the Blue Devils rallied to beat Section III power South Jefferson on Saturday. That was Anderson’s third game this season with at least five goals.

Lily Chambers-Silva

A senior on the East Rochester flag football team who helped the Bombers win two games and go to 6-0 this season. Both wins were shutouts. Chambers-Silva returned an interception for a touchdown and pulled four flags during a 6-0 victory. Earlier last week, she returned an interception for a touchdown and caught a pass for a touchdown during a 19-0 win for East Rochester.

Bailey Cook

Wayne flag football team member, a senior, helped the Eagles win two games, and extend a winning streak to three. Cook finished with two runs for touchdowns, 249 rushing yards and on defense, 5 flag pulls for loss of yardage.

Kate DeWald

Rush-Henrietta lacrosse player was credited with two goals, five assists and 17 draw controls as the Royal Comets took down Section 2’s Queensbury on Saturday. The senior also had three goals earlier in the week against Greece.

Brooke Endres

Spencerport senior led the Rangers with seven goals and 11 draw controls in a win against Webster Schroeder on Friday.

Meghan Forbes

Geneva lacrosse player had nine goals and one assist in her team’s win against Newark-Midlakes on Wednesday. Forbes is up to 24 goals this spring.

Carly Giebel

Brighton outdoor track and field athlete threw a discus 143 feet-2 inches during a Monroe County league meet. The senior in on top of the event’s Section V season leaderboard.

Mallory Howe

A junior at Pittsford Sutherland who ran a 1,500-meter race during a Monroe County league meet in 4 minutes, 46.95 seconds, an outdoor track and field season-best in Section V. Howe also is No. 1 in the 3,000.

Kinsley Keil

Webster Schroeder softball player finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, triple, four runs and four RBIs as the Warriors defeated Spencerport on Friday. Keil also had two hits, including a home run, earlier in the week against Hilton.

Ka’Mara Lane

A sophomore at Padilla at Franklin who became the first girl to report a sub-12-second 100-meter race this outdoor track and field season in Section V. Lane finished in 11.94 seconds during a Rochester City Athletic Conference league meet. She is also No. 1 on the Section V 200 dash leaderboard.

Alani Miller-Montgomery

A freshman on the East High flag football team who finished with a 75-yard run for a touchdown, an interception returned for a touchdown, 16 flag pulls, including seven for a loss of yardage for the opposing teams and 68 receiving yards after two wins for the Eagles.

Bles’ng Muhammad

A junior at Aquinas who helped the school’s varsity flag football team win three games with three touchdowns. Muhammad returned an interception 22 yards for a score, caught a pass for another and reached the end zone on a 45-yard punt return. She also finished with eight receptions for 141 yards and 30 flag pulls, including three behind the line of scrimmage. One of those pulls for loss of yardage was a sack.

Riley Nageldinger

A hurdler on the Keshequa outdoor track and field team who finished a 400-meter race in 1 minute, 6.24 seconds during a Livingston County dual meet. No girl has reported a faster time in the 400 hurdles so far this season.

Emilie Noble

Freshman at Batavia Notre Dame is No. 1 on the Section V Girls Outdoor Track and Field 400-meter dash leaderboard after racing to a finish in 57.29 seconds during the Attica Invitational.

Sadie O’Neill

A senior on the Eastridge flag football team who ran for two touchdowns, as she carried the ball eight times for 71 rushing yards, threw a touchdown pass while completing 10 of 15 attempts for 122 yards, had eight flag pulls on defense, including three behind the line of scrimmage and broke up two passes during a victory for the Lancers over Fairport.

Peyton Rothfuss

Penfield senior helped the Patriots secure two huge wins last week. She had one goal and two assists against Victor, including the 200th goal of her career, in a meeting between two defending state champions. Rothfuss added four goals later in the week against rival Fairport.

Josslyn Siembor

Eastridge softball player helped the Lancers remain undefeated. She finished 5-for-6 with two doubles, a triple, two RBIs, three runs, three steals and two walks across two games.

Jenna Swick

Webster Schroeder freshman went out 18 feet-half an inch in the long jump during a Monroe County league meet, putting her No. 1 on Section V’s outdoor season leaderboard for that event.

Elise Wilkinson

Lyons pitcher threw a perfect game across five innings and had nine strikeouts in Wednesday’s victory over Wayne County rival Williamson.
