Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park is a staple to the local community for residents and visitors alike to honor the men and women of Putnam County who answered our nation’s call to duty.
Dedicated on August 2, 1997, the Veterans Memorial is a striking monument made of red brick with seven vertical stone pillars. Each stone structure represents a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and the Putnam County Joint Veterans Council. The horizontal bricks contain the names of veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Some of the other memorials include a Gold Star Mothers statue, which was dedicated to all mothers who lost children serving our country. This compelling bronze statue stands atop a black granite pedestal. The site is also home to the Putnam County Veterans Memorial Museum.

The park also features an actual M60 Series Patton battle tank and a Cobra AH-IG/S/F Helicopter, which was purchased by the U.S. Army in 1967. It served in the Vietnam War from February 1968 through November 1969. In May 2001, the helicopter was decommissioned at Fort Drum and came to Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park.
The park, located off Gypsy Trail Road in Carmel, is in a beautiful location with a well-manicured grassy area and a lake and mountains in the background. It is home for many Putnam County sponsored events throughout the year.
