The former Denny’s building in Vestal will soon be demolished to make way for a new business.
Located at 4024 Vestal Parkway E., the building is being demolished to eventually house a Chase Bank, according to the March 10 Town of Vestal Planning Board meeting minutes.
The Vestal Denny’s permanently closed in December 2024, and the property has since sat vacant.
Matthew Cheka, of Stonefield Engineering and Design, representing JP Morgan Chase N.A., proposed a 3,400 square-foot bank, a 28-stall parking lot and a drive-up ATM for the 1.1-acre lot, the minutes state. The bank will sit where the former building was located, but a new foundation will be laid prior to its construction.
Peter Bagnello, also of Stonefield Engineering and Design, explained that the main traffic flow will come from the Vestal Parkway, but traffic can also enter from Bunn Hill Road.
Cheka further stated traffic will be “full movement at Bunn Hill Road,” but it will only be “right in, right out” on the Vestal Parkway. The overall circulation of traffic should not change with the new business.
The proposal was ultimately approved by the planning board on March 10.
When is construction expected to begin for the new bank?
Bagnello said that after the building permit application is accepted, construction is anticipated to take between 26 and 28 weeks, according to the minutes.
Another representative stated the plan is to begin demolition and construction this summer, with an anticipated opening of spring 2027.
