There is an update regarding the Buffalo Bills and one team legend that has surfaced following the official opening of the new Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.
The newest stadium in the NFL will not have a place honoring O.J. Simpson in it.
The team has confirmed that report:
“We have made an organizational decision that he is not a fit to display inside our new stadium and family circle,” Bills president of business operations Pete Guelli said in a statement.
Simpson was previously in the team’s “Ring of Honor” in the old stadium. In such an area in the new home of the Bills, Simpson will not be represented.
Simpson was the No. 1 pick in the 1969 NFL Draft. He became the first running back in NFL history to have 2,000 rushing yards in a season, rushing for 2,003 yards in 1973, and made five first-team All-Pro teams.
Simpson was a national spotlight in the 1994 deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, which is why he will not be represented.
