Two Westchester suburbs rank among the nation’s most affluent

Two Lower Hudson Valley suburbs rank among the most affluent in the United States, according to a recent analysis.

MoneyLion ranked the nation’s 50 most affluent suburbs by median household income using 2024 American Community Survey data. The ranking includes communities with at least 5,000 households that qualify as suburbs of larger metropolitan areas.

Topping the list was a community just north of New York City. While no two suburbs are the same, two of the nation’s three most affluent communities are located in Westchester County, roughly 25 to 30 miles north of Manhattan.

Scarsdale ranked nation’s wealthiest suburb for third straight year

Scarsdale, New York, ranked No. 1 for the third consecutive year. The Westchester County village reported an average household income of $612,591 in 2024, according to MoneyLion’s analysis released June 1.

About 18,000 people live in Scarsdale, according to U.S. Census data.

Rye ranks third among wealthiest suburbs

Rye, another Westchester County community, ranked No. 3 in the annual report, with an average household income of $428,806. In a 2025 ranking, Rye placed second.

The city is home to about 16,500 residents, according to the U.S. Census.
