Village of Liberty police reported on May 19 they arrested two men on child sex offender charges in separate cases.
Village police said Glenn Clark, 58, of Mongaup Valley, allegedly tried to meet a 13-year-old boy for sexual purposes.
Undercover police officers and detectives communicated with Clark in the guise of a 13-year-old boy. Clark allegedly sent nude photographs and agreed to meet the child at a location in Liberty.
At that location, Clark encountered Liberty police officers and detectives, and was taken into custody without incident.
Clark was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor and one count each of attempted rape and attempted luring a child to a vehicle or building to commit a crime, all felonies; and two counts of attempted endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
Clark was arraigned before Town of Liberty Justice Troy Johnstone and sent to the Sullivan County jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bond or $300,000 partially secured bond, pending further court action.
The name of his attorney was not immediately available.
In a separate case, Raion Coonjah, 51, of Monticello, allegedly tried to meet a 13-year-old boy for sexual purposes.
Undercover Liberty police officers and detectives communicated with him in the guise of a 13-year-old boy. He allegedly sent nude photographs and agreed to meet the child at a location in Liberty.
At that location, Coonjah was met by Liberty police officers and detectives, and was taken into custody without incident.
Coonjah was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree disseminating indecent material to a minor, two counts of attempted rape and one count of attempted luring a child to a vehicle or building to commit a crime, all felonies; and three counts of attempted endangerng the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
Coonjah was arraigned before Liberty Town Justice Brian Shortall and sent to the Sullivan County jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, $150,000 bond or $450,000 partially secured bond, pending further court action.
The name of his attorney was not immediately available.
