New York State Police charged a 32-year-old Steuben County man with felony possession of sexual performance by a child following a lengthy investigation and after allegedly discovering more than 1,500 photos and videos of child sexual abuse material on the suspect’s electronic devices.
Troopers said Daniel E. White of Bath was arrested July 17 on the class E felony charge of possessing child pornography.
According to troopers, in April 2024, New York State Police were alerted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) to the online sharing of child sexual abuse material through a social media platform.
The investigation led investigators to a residence in the town of Bath.
On Feb. 25, 2025, state police seized multiple electronic devices for forensic examination. The devices were later analyzed at the New York State Police Computer Forensics Laboratory, where investigators said they confirmed the presence of approximately 1,555 images and videos of child sexual abuse material on several devices.
White was processed at the state police barracks in Bath and appeared in Steuben County Centralized Arraignment. Additional court information was not released.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Bath-based state police and the Troop E Computer Crimes Unit teamed up in the investigation, officials said.
