Taco Bell on Main Street in the Town of Poughkeepsie has closed after a car crashed into the side of the building on June 14.
Signs on the fast food chain’s windows indicate the site is unsafe, and its use or occupancy has been prohibited by town officials.

At 11:32 a.m. that day, Arlington Professional Firefighters responded to a crash at the site where Advanced Life Support was given to the driver operating the vehicle, who was then sent to an area hospital. Authorities did not disclose the extent of the driver’s injuries.
According to the Town of Poughkeepsie Building Department, the vehicle had jumped the curb in the Wendy’s parking lot and hit the west side of the building, along the drive-thru lane.
Damage was sustained to a wood-framed wall at the building, and a window and ceiling tiles were shattered.
The Arlington Fire District shut off the gas to the building.
Once the building department has received a letter from a structural engineer or architect stating the building is safe to resume normal operation, Central Hudson will restore gas to the building.
However, the exact timing of when the Taco Bell could reopen is unclear.
