Three children were hurt June 4, two of them critically, when they were struck by an SUV on Starrow Drive in the Town of Newburgh.
Town of Newburgh police said officers responded to Starrow Drive shortly before 7 p.m. June 4 after they received a report of a car-pedestrian collision involving multiple children.
Police said a preliminary investigation determined a 2024 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 52-year-old Newburgh man was traveling west on Starrow Drive when it struck three children.
All three children were transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. Two of them are currently listed in critical but stable condition. The third child suffered minor injuries.
The driver was not immediately identified by police, and as of June 5 no charges have been filed.
Police said the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Town of Newburgh Police Department at 845-564-1100.
Town police were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit, the Town of Newburgh Emergency Medical Services, and the Winona Lake and Orange Lake fire departments.
