The Brooklyn Nets have the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft that will be taking place from Jun. 23-24 so they’re slowly running out of time to figure out who they will take. Brooklyn’s pick is high enough that they will be able to bring a talented player into the organization and one of those potential players has recently worked out for the team.
“Darius Acuff Jr. is in Chicago today working out for the Bulls, per source. Worked out for the Nets on Wednesday and has the Jazz and Bucks next,” Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman reported on Friday. Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr. is one of the players many expect to be taken between No. 5 and No. 10 so it only makes sense that he’s working out for teams like the Nets and Chicago Bulls.
“Lot of scenarios in play for Acuff as a potential top-5 pick and trade up/back target,” Wasserman continued in his report on Acuff. Brooklyn is coming off a lowly 20-62 record in the 2025-26 season so it’s clear that the roster needs plenty of work before it is ready to compete for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, let alone the play-in tournament.
Acuff is one of the players most commonly mocked to the Nets at this point in the pre-draft cycle, along with players like Illinois guard Keaton Wagler and Louisville guard Mikel Brown Jr. Acuff is coming off a spectacular freshman season for the Razorbacks as he averaged 23.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game while shooting 48.4% from the field and 44.0% from behind the three-point line.
What makes Brooklyn’s pick interesting is that the Los Angeles Clippers, who have the No. 5 pick, could be looking at guards like Acuff as they are rebuilding around forward Kawhi Leonard and guard Darius Garland. The Nets have a variety of guards to choose from with varying skillsets, but workouts like Wednesday with Acuff should show Brooklyn which guy they prefer to have at their spot.
