A Stony Point man was arrested recently after a search warrant was issued for possession of child pornography in his residence, authorities said.
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh II said Damani Steadman, 21, of Tomkins Cove, was arrested Friday, Jan. 16, after an eight-month investigation culminated in a search warrant for child pornography and his arrest.
Walsh said the investigation was initiated after Steadman was allegedly identified in a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Multiple search warrants were issued for Steadman’s internet accounts, electronic devices and personal property in his residence, Walsh said.
Steadman was arraigned Friday before Judge David Ascher in Rockland County Court and was charged with 25 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child. He was required to surrender his passport and is expected to appear back in court Tuesday, Feb. 3.
