New York State Police are investigating a shooting in the town of Westernville and are asking the public for information.
At around 7:40 p.m. on Sept. 15, troopers responded to Main Street in the town of Westernville for a reported domestic dispute with shots fired, according to a statement.
Troopers located one victim at the scene with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. An individual was taken into custody at the scene.
An investigation found that an unnamed 38-year-old male went to the residence of an unnamed 43-year-old male on Main Street. The 43-year-old allegedly fired multiple rounds from a shotgun loaded with birdshot, striking the 38-year-old.
He was transported to Wynn Hospital in Utica, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect has been cooperative with investigators, and the firearm involved has been secured by police.
