Nyack kicked off its 2026 street fair season Sunday with is annual “Springfest”, with the highlight of the day being the Puerto Rican singer and three-time Latin Grammy winner Pedro Capó, who was honored with the key to the village. Several hundred small business vendors filled Main Street and Broadway, selling everything from handmade jewelry and art to antiques, skincare and food stands from the many restaurants in the downtown area. “Springfest” is the first of five street fairs in the village. Others will be held monthly through summer and into early Fall.
Capó, who spent several years living and working in Nyack, was honored by the Nyack Chamber of Commerce to acknowledge his roots as a musician in Nyack with his band Rústico Acústica. After receiving the key to the village, Capó gave an emotional speech as he spoke about the time he spent in Nyack. He then performed an acoustic set of his music as hundreds of fans listened and sang along to familiar lyrics.
