The search is continuing Tuesday for a 19-year-old woman who was reported missing Monday night in Penfield.
Emma L. Oppedisano was last seen around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3 in the area of Browncroft Boulevard and Old Browncroft Boulevard near Irondequoit Creek, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Search continues for missing woman
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its search for Oppedisano and is asking anyone with information about her whereabouts to call 911.
Oppedisano is described as a white woman, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a slim build and long dark brown hair. She was last seen wearing a navy blue short-sleeve shirt, gray sweatpants and white sneakers.
Sheriff’s Office provides update
At a midday news conference on Tuesday, Deputy David Marcucci said that Oppedisano was walking with her father in Ellison Park, when he lost sight of her and called 911.
Deputies and other first responders have searched from the ground and air and also were assisted by K9 units from several departments, the department’s drone team and the New York State Police helicopter, he said. The search paused during the early morning hours overnight but resumed Tuesday morning.
Marcucci said the search will continue as long as its needed and it is safe to search.
No foul play
Marcucci said there was no indication that there was any foul play in the teen’s disappearance, “but based on the circumstances there is exigency to locating Emma.”
Marcucci said he could not further disclose the “exigent circumstances” but noted that based on her father’s report “we have elevated the level of concern and efforts in an attempt to locate her and bring her back safely.”
“Keep in mind this is somebody’s family member, this is somebody’s friend… a young lady who is out there,” he said. “She’s been missing since last night.”
