Police respond to incident near Rockland County border in Tuxedo Park

A heightened police presence in Tuxedo Park in Orange County on Route 17, minutes from the Rockland County border, is being reported Wednesday, July 22.

As of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Route 17 is currently closed in both directions, according to the New York Department of Transportation 511 alerts.

Was there an explosion in Tuxedo Park?

According to police scanner information, a potential gas explosion could be the reason.

Officials confirmed that Town of Tuxedo police were responding to an incident in the area, but officials were unable to confirm whether an explosion had happened or any other details about the circumstances surrounding the response.
