Police investigate slashing in New Rochelle

New Rochelle police are investigating a slashing in the 500 block of Main Street on Thursday afternoon, May 7.

New Rochelle Police Spokesman J. Collins Coyne said an altercation occurred a little after noon between two groups of individuals that escalated to a slashing.

One individual was slashed in the face near his eye. His injuries are not life threatening.

Two people were taken into custody, but charges have not been filed pending the outcome of the investigation.

According to the spokesperson, the two groups knew each other.

Police recovered evidence at the scene but did not recover the weapon used in the slashing.
