On Tuesday, the news broke that the New York Giants would be turning the page after just three weeks, benching veteran quarterback Russell Wilson in favor of first-round pick Jaxson Dart.
After Dart’s impressive preseason, it was only a matter of time before the Giants made the switch. The rookie will now take over with 14 games left in the season, and it will come in during a stretch of games where four of the Giants’ next six opponents are currently 3-0, including this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Russell Wilson and the Giants’ offense struggled mightily in Weeks 1 and 3, scoring single digits in both weeks, which prompted the change.
As the news surfaced on Tuesday, the former NFL players reacted across social media along with the rest of the football media community.
