New York Jets at New England Patriots: 5 storylines to watch for in Week 11

The New York Jets are turning to another page of their 2025 NFL season.

In Week 10, the Jets (1-10) will head back home to face the Cleveland Browns (2-6) at MetLife Stadium.

There have been a lot of changes in New York. We’re starting to see the results of those choices and the outcome against the Browns will reveal even more.

But before we even get to kickoff, there will be a lot of Jets-related discussions and conversations to be had throughout the coming days.

With that, here are five storylines to watch for ahead of the Jets’ against the Browns in Week 10

Short week

The Jets under head coach Aaron Glenn have had a taste of prime-time football back in Week 4 on “Monday Night Football.” In Week 11, it will be the first time Glenn’s team takes on a short week with “Thursday Night Football.”

How’s that going to go?

Quarterback position

Glenn refuses to give much intel if he does not have to. Add injuries to the list now. But once again in Week 11, Glenn is being coy about who will be his starting quarterback despite Justin Fields getting another win.

However, there is some grey area in this one. That’s because the Jets beat the Cleveland Browns last week in spite of Fields, not because of him. He was bad.

Will Fields get the nod again? He feels likely, but we’ll see.

Life without Garrett (again)

Glenn has now been unwilling to give injury updates because ESPN reported that Garrett Wilson will miss multiple weeks due to his knee injury. Assuming that update is true, the Jets have to figure out life without him. Even when Wilson is not getting the ball, he commands the opposing defense’s attention.

More time for new players?

Speaking of who can help out without Wilson, there are the recently acquired via trade AD Mitchell and John Metchie III. Do those two see extended run now that they’ve had time to settle into New York post-NFL trade deadline? The same goes for defensive tackle Mazi Smith getting more playing time.

Facing these surprise Patriots

The opponent is always a noteworthy topic before kickoff. With the Patriots, it’s even more so. The Pats are the surprise class of the 2025 AFC East as they lead the division with an 8-2 record. Their quarterback, Drake Maye, is being tossed into MVP discussions, too.

It will be a measuring stick for the Jets after the trade deadline.
