2025 was another lost season for the New York Giants, and again, injuries were the main culprit. The Giants, at one point or another, placed 28 players on injured reserve (IR). Only the Arizona Cardinals had more (32).
They lost their top wide receiver (Malik Nabers), running back (Cam Skattebo), and tackler (linebacker Micah McFadden) for the season before Halloween. During the season, there were injuries to other key players that caused them to miss time.
The spate of injuries was a continuation of what has been a long stretch of lost seasons for Big Blue due to injury. Since 2017, they have had only one relatively healthy season, 2022, and they qualified for the playoffs that year.
Here’s a quick cross-section of the Giants’ 2025 injury situation, per a recent study:
As of mid-November last season, the Giants have had the most games missed by injured players since 2017 (1,638). The Giants’ record over that span? 44-104-1, second only to the Jets (44-105).
The Giants are hoping that with restructured medical and training departments, they will have fewer injuries in the future. But don’t tell that to new head coach John Harbaugh, who intends to work this team harder than they’ve worked in many years.
